Firstly, happy new year! We've had no internet since Christmas, which hasn't been great, but thankfully, we are back with the modern world now!
Freddie has had a very chilled out Christmas and was ridden once the other day, and not since. We were planning to take him to a CHAPS/PUK qualifier show on the 3rd Jan but it is set to snow all weekend so I think the plans are off. I'm not hugely disappointed as, although it would have been nice to go, I really don't think he is ready and he certainly isn't fit, so perhaps it is best left a little while yet.
When I rode him the other day he was a bit of a plank. He was incredibly sensitive and shot forward at the slightest touch my leg and we even had a bit of a buck once he'd decided he'd had enough. So with the new year here I plan to put the effort in now to really get him ready for the show season. Hard work here we come!
Speaking of new years, I suppose putting my resolutions down on paper (or screen in this case) might be a good idea and might give me a reason to keep them up. I have a few...
Non Horsey:
- Loose weight for Mexico in Sept '10
- Go to bed earlier
- Push forward with Big Image
- Make an effort to look nice more often
Horsey:
- Keep my new blog up to date and keep a record of everything, big and small
- Continue to work on my confidence, including out hacking
- Get Freddie to a consistently reasonable standard with his flat work
- Do some ridden showing
- Get Freddie jumping
- Enjoy my horse!!!
So, 2010 is set to be my year to get thin, get rich and get confident! Hopefully I will look back at this in a years time and be pleased that I stuck to these promises!
