Today is Christmas Day. The unofficial fastest day of the year. You get up, open presents, I go and do the horse, we have lunch and suddenly it's the evening??! Why does this only happen on Christmas Day?!
It's been lovely, thoroughly enjoyable day though. Parents had told us that we wouldn't be getting mountains of presents because times are hard, which, of course, we all understood. They lied! As usual, they were amazing and we were thoroughly spoilt! I do love Christmas! I wonder how old I will have to be until I don't get treated like a child for this one day of the year? I am 22 now and still get a stocking, dinner cooked, etc. and I dread the day my childhood Christmasses come to an end. I assume this has to happen eventually? Or perhaps even when I have children of my own, Mum will go on treating me as if I am still 5 years old... who am I to complain?!
So, we now have a fire going, after a small unfortunate incident where Dad accidently filled the room with smoke and we all had to cover our faces. But he quickly corrected that and now we are almost clear of smoke and the fire is finally looking healthy. Mum is just dishing up a variety of deserts to order. I've chosen a 'toffee bomb' with custard... I'm not entirely sure, what with the huge dinner I've not long consumed, where I'm going to put it, but I'm sure I will find room. After all, the big holiday diet starts after New Year, so I may as well make the most of it now!
I went an sorted Freddie out this morning after I'd opened my presents. None of the ponies had been fed when I got there and they were all stomping and grumbling at me. I did what I had to do pretty sharpish, helped Julie do Toby and Ace and then we all left them to their own devices. I gave Freddie his Christmas swede, which he seemed appreciative of and hoped that it'd keep him occupied for some of the time. Sarah has just text me to say he seems to have enjoyed it so hopefully that went some way towards making up for the neglect I have shown him over Christmas. I will hopefully be able to spend some time with him next week... although he hasn't been ridden or turned out in over a week due to the snow being around for so long, so that should be... interesting!
Anyway, I've just been handed a bowl of toffee sponge and piping hot custard so I'm off to fill my face! Merry Christmas everyone!
